A Giant of Exercise Therapy?
Daniel’s
career encompasses an early start in private long distance running, a PGCert.
in Exercise Science and an MSc in Sports Coaching, where he wrote a
critical master thesis on Ideokinesis,
Imagery in Pilates Instruction. He was Pilates apprentice of Alan Herdman, a senior global Pilates authority, and also trained with / under
Polestar Pilates Germany, and other Pilates teachers (A.M Zulkahari, M.King). He
studied massage and worked as an Exercise Personal Trainer (a. o. at Univ.
of London Gym) and nutrition advisor prior to increasing Pilates engagements. Massages
are frequently offered in conjunction with Pilates, but remedial home bound
Pilates and exercise in the open (parks) are his specialism. He
holds a British General Practitioner (GP) exercise referral license and
was one
of
the first
government
registered advanced Personal Trainers. He took further inspiration
from Margot Hold who teaches the David Warren Technique (a consultant who
advised top
Olympian athletes).
Between
2000 and 2003 Daniel run Jumping Tiger as a complete ethical business, and
was listed by the consumer advice register Ethical Junction. Amongst
others it featured donations to Tiger charities, and reliance solely
on zero carbon foot print bicycling, free sessions for the underprivileged,
as well as offering Pilates to migrants and ethnic minorities in
London.
Since then, Daniel felt aspects of the sustainable policy, not
to be sustainable for himself, but he remains
committed to it in many aspects non explicitly, this includes his weekly
work for the peace charity British Friends of Wahat al Salam ~ Neve
Shalom.
His
non exercise specific awards are BA is in Politics and History and
an MA in Urban Sociology. He also holds an award in Community Mediation
and in Radio. He is a vegan since 2003 and vegetarian since 1988.
